Hybrid Solar & Battery Storage

Store your solar surplus, power through grid outages and charge your EV with clean energy. The complete intelligent energy system for homes and businesses.

Hybrid solar battery system

A standard grid-tied solar system is brilliant — but a hybrid system with battery storage is transformational. Where a grid-tied system shuts down when the grid goes out, a hybrid system switches seamlessly to island mode, keeping your home or business powered from solar and battery. Where a grid-tied system might export surplus at low grid rates, a hybrid system stores it for high-value evening consumption.

Nexo Solar designs and installs hybrid solar and battery storage systems using the world's leading inverter and battery technologies. Our smart energy management software optimises every kilowatt-hour: maximising self-consumption, minimising grid import, and automatically charging EVs from solar surplus.

Whether you want to add battery storage to an existing solar system or install a complete new hybrid package, our engineers will design the right combination of inverter capacity, battery energy and smart control for your specific needs.

How Hybrid Solar & Battery Works

A hybrid inverter connects your panels, battery, home loads and grid simultaneously. During the day: solar powers your home directly. When solar exceeds consumption, the battery charges. When the battery is full, surplus is exported to the grid. In the evening: the battery discharges to power your home. At night when the battery is depleted, grid tops up at minimal cost. During a grid outage: the system detects the outage and switches to island mode within milliseconds, using solar and battery to power essential circuits.

Battery Storage Options

  • Home (5–15 kWh): LiFePO4 wall-mounted battery, ideal for typical residential systems. Powers lighting, appliances and EV overnight.
  • Villa/large home (15–30 kWh): Modular stacked battery system for high-consumption properties or full overnight independence.
  • Commercial (50 kWh – 1+ MWh): Rack-mount or containerised systems for businesses, hotels and industrial sites.

EV Charging Integration

Our smart EV chargers communicate directly with the hybrid inverter and battery management system. When solar generation exceeds home consumption and the battery is above a set threshold, the EV charger activates automatically and directs surplus solar power to your car. The result: your EV charges for free on sunshine. A typical EV driving 15,000 km/year saves ₺30,000–₺60,000 in fuel annually at current petrol prices.

  • 7 kW single-phase or 22 kW three-phase home charger
  • Solar-priority smart charging with app scheduling
  • Type 2 connector standard (compatible with all major EVs)
  • Charge session logging and solar vs. grid share reporting

Grid Backup & Island Mode

Power outages in Turkey, while infrequent, can disrupt homes and businesses significantly. A hybrid system with sufficient battery provides seamless backup power: the transition happens in <20ms (faster than most UPS devices), maintaining all connected loads without interruption. Critical loads (refrigerators, medical equipment, security systems, routers) can be prioritised on a dedicated backup circuit.

Technical Specifications

  • Hybrid inverters: Huawei SUN2000-L, GoodWe, Growatt, SolarEdge — 3–20 kW
  • Battery chemistry: LiFePO4 (safest, longest cycle life) — 6,000+ cycles at 80% DoD
  • Battery warranty: 10 years / 6,000 cycles from manufacturers
  • Round-trip efficiency: 95%+ for LiFePO4
  • EV charger: 7 kW Type 2 with solar-priority control
  • Monitoring: Real-time energy flow visualisation, battery SoC, EV charge status

Cost & Value

A 5 kWh add-on battery system starts from ₺45,000 installed. A complete 10 kWp solar + 10 kWh battery + EV charger package costs approximately ₺175,000 installed. With combined electricity and fuel savings, this package can achieve payback in 3.5–5 years, delivering ₺500,000+ in lifetime value. Battery prices continue to fall — now is an excellent time to invest.

Yes, in most cases. If your existing system has a hybrid-capable inverter, battery can be added directly. If you have a standard string inverter, we can replace it with a hybrid model or add an AC-coupled battery system. Our engineers will assess your existing setup at no charge.
A 10 kWh battery will power a typical home's essential loads (lights, fridge, router, phone charging) for 8–12 hours. With solar panels generating during daylight, the battery can be topped up and extend coverage indefinitely through daytime outages.
LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) is the safest lithium battery chemistry available. Unlike NMC batteries used in some EVs, LiFePO4 is thermally stable and does not go into thermal runaway. It can be safely installed indoors, outdoors or in garages.
LiFePO4 batteries self-discharge very slowly (1–3% per month). For seasonal properties, we recommend leaving the battery at 50% state of charge during long storage periods, which is managed automatically by the battery management system.
Yes, our smart energy management system can be programmed to top up the battery or charge the EV from the grid during off-peak tariff hours, further reducing total energy costs on your electricity bill.

What Is a Hybrid Solar System, and When Is It the Right Choice?

A hybrid system is an architecture that combines photovoltaic solar panels with lithium-ion battery storage. The difference from a standard grid-tied (on-grid) system is this: instead of exporting surplus daytime energy to the grid, it stores that energy in the battery and releases it in the evening or at night when you need it. Hybrid systems can also keep running during a grid outage — so you capture both day-to-day savings and emergency backup power in a single system.

Hybrid System Architecture Options

AC-Coupled Hybrid

Ideal for adding a battery to an existing on-grid system. Retrofit cost is lower, though conversion losses are slightly higher (8–12%).

DC-Coupled Hybrid

Feeds panel output straight into the battery as DC. Conversion losses are minimal (3–5%). The recommended architecture for new installations.

NMC (lithium-nickel)2,000–3,00090%96%₺5,500–₺7,500

DoD: Depth of Discharge. LFP batteries are the first choice for both residential and commercial use thanks to their safety and long service life.

When Should You Choose a Hybrid System?

A hybrid system is not necessary for every project. Adding a battery makes strong financial and operational sense under the following conditions:

Hybrid Installation: Recommended Brands & Solutions

Inverter-and-battery integration is critical when choosing a hybrid system. Our recommended solutions:

EV Charging with a Hybrid System

For the growing number of electric vehicle (EV) owners, a hybrid system offers a major advantage. You can direct surplus solar energy first to the battery and then to your car charger. With this configuration, the energy cost of both your home and your vehicle drops significantly — and you no longer depend on the overnight grid tariff. We size the system correctly, taking your vehicle's charging needs into account.

Answers to Your Pre-Installation Questions

The questions we hear most often when customers are deciding to invest in solar — answered clearly:

My electricity supply is single-phase — is that a problem?

Single-phase (220V) supply is fine for homes. Single-phase systems can be installed up to a maximum of 10 kWp. For larger systems that need a three-phase connection, the distribution utility can also upgrade your subscription.

What happens if snow falls on the panels?

Snowfall is extremely rare in Antalya. Even so, because the panel surface is slightly tilted, a light dusting slides off within a few hours. As long as snow stays under about 3 cm, there is no meaningful loss in output — and Antalya's winter sun alone delivers enough irradiance to keep the system productive.

Can my neighbours object? Do I need a permit?

For detached homes, a municipal permit is generally not required (up to 10 kWp). In apartment blocks and managed estates, approval from the property owners' association is needed. If you are a tenant, the building owner's written consent is essential. We provide legal and technical support through all of these processes.

What happens when I sell the property?

You can either transfer the system with the property or have it removed and reinstalled at a new location. The net metering agreement passes to the new owner. International studies show that properties with solar systems command 3–8% higher market value.
