Ground Mount Solar Systems

Maximise your land's energy potential with industrial-grade ground mount arrays. From 50 kWp to multi-megawatt solar parks — engineered for Mediterranean yields.

Ground mount solar farm

When roof space is limited or when the goal is maximum generation, ground mount solar is the answer. A well-designed ground mount system can generate 10–15% more electricity than the equivalent rooftop installation, because panels can be positioned at the precise optimal tilt and azimuth angle — uncompromised by roof orientation or obstructions.

Nexo Solar designs and installs ground mount systems for private landowners, businesses, farms and utilities. Whether you have 500 m² of unused land or 50 hectares, our engineering team will design a system that extracts every possible kilowatt-hour from the Antalya sun.

Our ground mount systems are built to industrial standards: hot-dip galvanised steel structures, high-strength aluminium rail systems and industrial-grade DC/AC wiring that will perform reliably for 30+ years. Every system is monitored in real-time via our IoT platform.

How Ground Mount Solar Works

Steel piles or concrete footings are driven or poured into the ground and structural rails are mounted at the engineered tilt angle (typically 20–30° in Antalya for optimal annual yield). Panels are attached to the rails and wired in strings. Central inverters or string inverters convert DC power to grid-compatible AC. A transformer steps up voltage for transmission to the grid connection point or directly to on-site consumption.

All ground mount systems include weather station sensors, irradiance meters and our IoT monitoring gateway, providing granular production data and instant fault alerts.

Advantages of Ground Mount

  • Optimal tilt angle regardless of land topology — maximum annual yield
  • No roof loading concerns — ideal for large-scale capacity
  • Easier access for cleaning and maintenance
  • Can incorporate single-axis or dual-axis solar tracking (10–25% more yield)
  • Scalable from 50 kWp to utility scale in a single project
  • Ideal for net-metering or feed-in tariff income generation
  • Ground mount land remains partially usable (grazing, agrivoltaic)

Installation Process

Land Assessment: Soil testing, topographic survey, shading analysis and irradiance modelling. We determine optimal layout, structure type and grid connection point.

Engineering Design: Structural calculations, electrical single-line diagrams, panel layout, string configuration, inverter selection and earthing design — all stamped by our licensed engineers.

Civil Works: Foundation piling or concrete works, cable ducting and trenching, inverter room or outdoor enclosure installation.

Mechanical & Electrical Installation: Structure assembly, panel installation, DC wiring, inverter connection, AC switchgear, grid protection relay and metering.

Commissioning: Full electrical testing, insulation resistance, earth continuity, protection relay settings, grid connection sign-off and IoT platform activation.

Technical Specifications

  • Structure: Hot-dip galvanised steel (80 μm), wind load rated to 150 km/h
  • Tilt: Fixed 20–30° or single-axis tracker (+18–22% yield)
  • Inverters: Central (500 kW–2.5 MW) or string for modular projects
  • Cabling: UV-resistant DC cables, aluminium or copper AC cables
  • Earthing: TN-S system, lightning protection to IEC 62305
  • System sizes: 50 kWp to 10+ MWp

Cost & ROI

Ground mount systems typically cost ₺10,000–₺13,000 per kWp installed, including civil works and grid connection. A 500 kWp system generating 775,000 kWh/year saves approximately ₺2.7 million in electricity costs annually. Payback periods of 4–6 years are typical, with IRRs of 15–22%.

Why Choose Nexo Solar

  • In-house structural and electrical engineering team
  • Completed 500+ kWp projects in Manavgat, Side and Antalya
  • Licensed for EPDK generator licence applications
  • Full EPC (Engineer-Procure-Construct) turnkey service
  • Post-installation O&M contracts available
  • Financing introductions to leading Turkish solar project banks
A rough guide is 8–12 m² of land per kWp installed, including inter-row spacing for maintenance access and shadow avoidance. A 100 kWp system therefore needs approximately 1,000 m² of usable land.
Yes, land under and around ground mount panels can be used for grazing, ground-cover crops or agrivoltaic production. We design inter-row spacing to accommodate access requirements.
Systems above 1 MWp require EPDK generation licence. Below 1 MWp, TEDAŞ/EDAŞ grid connection permit and local municipality construction permit are typically required. We manage all permit applications.
For systems above 200 kWp, single-axis tracking typically adds 18–22% to annual yield and pays back its additional cost within 2–3 years, making it financially compelling for most sites in Antalya's climate.
We offer annual O&M contracts covering panel cleaning, electrical inspection, thermal imaging and inverter health checks. Our IoT platform monitors performance 24/7 and alerts our engineers to any anomalies.

Ground-Mount Solar Farms: Utility-Scale Power Plant Investment

A ground-mount solar power plant is a generation facility built on non-agricultural, investment-suitable land, at scales ranging from kWp to MW. In line with Turkey's 2030 targets, ground-mount solar offers attractive opportunities for both individual and institutional investors. For those holding idle land in inland regions such as Antalya, Isparta and Burdur, a ground-mount plant can become a powerful source of passive income.

Answers to Your Pre-Installation Questions

The questions we hear most often when customers are deciding to invest in solar — answered clearly:

My electricity supply is single-phase — is that a problem?

Single-phase (220V) supply is fine for homes. Single-phase systems can be installed up to a maximum of 10 kWp. For larger systems that need a three-phase connection, the distribution utility can also upgrade your subscription.

What happens if snow falls on the panels?

Snowfall is extremely rare in Antalya. Even so, because the panel surface is slightly tilted, a light dusting slides off within a few hours. As long as snow stays under about 3 cm, there is no meaningful loss in output — and Antalya's winter sun alone delivers enough irradiance to keep the system productive.

Can my neighbours object? Do I need a permit?

For detached homes, a municipal permit is generally not required (up to 10 kWp). In apartment blocks and managed estates, approval from the property owners' association is needed. If you are a tenant, the building owner's written consent is essential. We provide legal and technical support through all of these processes.

What happens when I sell the property?

You can either transfer the system with the property or have it removed and reinstalled at a new location. The net metering agreement passes to the new owner. International studies show that properties with solar systems command 3–8% higher market value.
